Jean Decort is a Panamanian brand founded in 2014 by Colon-born artist and creative director Jean Carlos Quijano, with the vision of creating unique garments that represent individual culture through color, prints, and patterns. The brand began as an idea to design exclusive hand-painted clothing, a concept Quijano started developing in 2011. Between 2011 and 2019, the artist created approximately 50,000 hand-painted pieces, establishing himself as one of the pioneers of this art form in Panama.
His innovative approach earned him national and international recognition, as well as several distinctions. Initially focused on urban-inspired fashion shows, Quijano later explored his cultural identity and became one of the leading ambassadors of Afro fashion in Panama, reshaping the perception of Afro-inspired style in the country.
Today, Jean Decort offers a wide range of products, including clothing and accessories for men and women, decorative home items, and high-quality souvenirs — all infused with Quijano’s art and deeply inspired by Panamanian culture and regional heritage.
